Back from Paris!
It all began with a 6 hour train from Nice to Paris.  We arrived at about 3:30 on Friday afternoon and easily found our hotel, which was conveniently located within reasonable walking distance to both the Louvre & the Eiffel Tower.  We spent the evening walking around the Eiffel Tower, sipping coffees on the Seine River, having a huge seafood platter and wine for dinner, and then to a trendy bistro afterward for café au laits and dessert.  On Saturday we woke up early and got in line for the Louvre, which moved surprisingly quickly.  It was only 13euro each for access to all wings… like you could ever see them in a day!  We were in there for 5 hours and still didn’t see a fraction of what they had to offer.  But we got in the most important ones (to us, anyway): Mona Lisa and Venus de Milo.  Very cool.  We also were able to catch the entire Rembrandt & Hogarth Collections and quite a few sculptures.  Then we headed over to the Eiffel Tower and waited in line to go all the way to the top (for only 11euro each)… that line was less forgiving.  We waited a couple hours, but it worked out because by the time we got to the top the sun was setting.  Afterward, we went out for a lovely dinner and then coffee and desserts after that.  All in all, we spent multiple hours strolling the streets of Paris in the fall… it was beautiful.  We were impressed with the efficiency of the subway and train system as well, they’ve really got it going on there!  It will be nice to return someday with all the tourist stuff out of the way and more money to burn to experience it in a bit more depth.  Back to school for Erin tomorrow, back to sleeping in for Adam.  Next weekend: Holland!
